Niyati Patel, O.D., F.A.A.O., joined Berkeley Eye Center in November, 2023. She is a Texas licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist who provides routine and medical eye care to our patients.
Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Patel recently relocated to the Houston area. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She continued her training by completing a residency at W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. There, she gained experience in diagnosing and treating various ocular diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration. Following that, she proceeded to become a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Prior to joining Berkeley Eye Center, Dr. Patel worked at a private ophthalmology practice in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Dr. Patel is an active member of the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry and the Texas Optometric Association. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
