Dr. Kelsea Skidmore is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist at Berkeley Eye Center’s Memorial location, providing routine and medical eye care with a primary focus on specialty contact lenses and pediatric myopia management. Since joining the practice in 2021, she has combined her deep clinical passion with a research-driven approach to treat patients with complex ocular conditions.
A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Skidmore holds both a Doctor of Optometry degree and a Master of Science in Vision Science. Her academic career was distinguished by multiple Clinical Letters of Excellence and induction into the Gold Key International Honor Society and Beta Sigma Kappa. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Arkansas, where she competed as a member of the Razorback swim team.
What sets Dr. Skidmore apart is her decade of experience in fitting customized scleral lenses for patients with irregular corneas, corneal transplants, and post-surgical complications. She is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Education Society (SLS), where she serves on the board and regularly lectures at the Global Specialty Contact Lens Symposium to teach other doctors proper fitting techniques. In addition to her clinical practice, she serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Houston, conducting multi-center research on contact lens safety and incidence rates of complications.
Outside of the office, Dr. Skidmore serves on the board of the Harris County Optometric Association. She remains an avid swimmer and enjoys yoga, gym workouts, and traveling to the beach.
