Dr. Karlie Bonem is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist with more than 10 years of experience providing comprehensive eye care with specialized expertise in glaucoma management, ocular surface disease, and cataract and refractive surgery co-management. Since joining Berkeley Eye Center in 2023, she has brought advanced glaucoma care and meticulous disease management to the Houston / Greenway Plaza location. A cum laude graduate of Baylor University who earned her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston, Dr. Bonem combines extensive clinical experience with a passion for clinical research and evidence-based care.

With advanced expertise in managing complex glaucoma cases and ocular surface disease, she provides comprehensive care for both routine and complex eye conditions. Her leadership as a board member of the Harris County Optometric Society and involvement in the National Glaucoma Society, American Optometric Association, and Texas Optometric Association demonstrate her dedication to advancing the profession and staying current with the latest treatment options.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Bonem believes strongly in giving back to the Houston community through her leadership roles in professional organizations. Outside of optometry, Dr. Bonem enjoys spending time with her husband and two young kids, practicing yoga, and being outdoors, and is committed to maintaining work-life balance while providing exceptional patient care.
