Dr. Thuyuyen N. Hoang is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist providing comprehensive eye care at Berkeley Eye Center’s Sugar Land and Pearland locations. Her clinical philosophy is rooted in treating every patient like family—taking the time to listen and educate while providing personalized care tailored to each individual’s unique needs.
A Houston native, Dr. Hoang earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston before receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her doctoral studies, she served as Secretary of the National Optometric Student Association. Her clinical training at the University of Houston College of Optometry Eye Center focused on ocular disease and medical services, where she developed a strong foundation in refractive and cataract surgery co-management, as well as the diagnosis and management of conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
Dr. Hoang has extensive experience in the co-management of refractive, cataract, retina, and glaucoma surgeries, providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative care in close collaboration with her ophthalmology colleagues. She also specializes in fitting customized scleral lenses for patients with irregular corneas, corneal transplants, keratoconus, and post-surgical complications.
Known for her detail-oriented and compassionate approach, Dr. Hoang enjoys practicing the full scope of optometry, with specialized interests in dry eye treatment, specialty contact lenses, and myopia management. Prior to joining Berkeley Eye Center, she gained valuable experience in private practice and even explored her creative side as the co-owner of a plant business—clearly, she knows how to help both people and plants thrive.
Outside of the office, Dr. Hoang enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her husband and son, reading, and exploring various arts and crafts projects.
