DR. PAUL M. PALUMBO, OD
Therapeutic Optometrist | Optometric Glaucoma SpecialisT
Dr. Paul M. Palumbo is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist providing medical and routine eye care at Berkeley Eye Center’s Kingwood location. Since joining the practice in 2011, he has performed over 50,000 comprehensive eye examinations and treated an extensive number of patients. His clinical approach is deeply informed by his long history with the practice, having served as a clinical extern and optometric assistant before joining the medical staff.
Dr. Palumbo graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, where he also served as President of the Pre-Optometry Professional Society. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he was honored with a Clinical Letter of Excellence for his work at the University Eye Institute. During his doctoral studies, he gained specialized experience in refractive laser correction, cataract surgery co-management, and the medical management of glaucoma and retinal disease.
His patient care philosophy is centered on education, trust, and creating long-term relationships. Dr. Palumbo focuses on helping patients truly understand their eye health by explaining conditions in simple terms and making sure they feel comfortable with their care plan. He finds it particularly rewarding to catch systemic medical issues through eye exams, such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and sun damage.
Dr. Palumbo is also dedicated to community service, notably through his work with the “See to Succeed” program. He finds that providing vision care to children who might not otherwise have access is a powerful reminder of his choice to become an optometrist, as a simple pair of glasses can fundamentally change a child’s ability to learn and feel confident in school. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and the Harris County Optometric Society. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, bowling, and discovering new restaurants with his family.
