Dr. Alelujah Ramirez graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston.
While in optometry school, Dr. Ramirez’s clinical externships allowed her to provide full scope optometric care to patients at Cedar Springs Eye Clinic located in the inner city of Dallas, and Golden Eye Clinic, a high-volume rural practice in East Texas. At both of her externship sites, she not only managed a variety of ocular diseases, but she also became proficient in specialty contact lens fittings. Additionally, she was selected to work at the Myopia Control Clinic at the University Eye Institute where she was trained in different treatment strategies to reduce myopia progression in children.
After graduating with her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Ramirez completed her residency in refractive surgery and ocular disease at Parkhurst NuVision in San Antonio, Texas. Throughout her residency, she developed a passion for providing care in a perioperative setting to both refractive and cataract patients. She continued managing ocular pathology with an emphasis on anterior segment diseases including keratoconus, dry eye, and more.
Dr. Ramirez is passionate about teaching and helping others. Beyond her clinical experience, Dr. Ramirez served as a teaching assistant for two years during optometry school and continued teaching as a preceptor for fourth year optometry students while in residency. She also recently travelled to Mexico to help provide over 200 cataract surgeries to the indigent peoples within the state of Chihuahua and surrounding areas.
Outside of work, Dr. Ramirez is an active yogi who enjoys hiking, travelling, and collecting board games. She spends her free time discovering new cuisines that she can share with her friends and family. She is dedicated to lifelong learning and is always looking forward to the next adventure.
