Dr. Matthew B. McCauley is a board-certified ophthalmologist, senior partner at Berkeley Eye Center, and the Medical Director of the Grand Oaks Surgery Center. Based primarily in The Woodlands, he provides advanced surgical eye care to patients from across the Houston Metropolitan area, including Spring, Conroe, Magnolia, Tomball, North Houston, Montgomery, Willis, Walden, and Huntsville. Over a distinguished career spanning more than 25 years, Dr. McCauley has performed tens of thousands of successful surgical procedures. He specializes in advanced cataract surgery, custom laser vision correction (LASIK/PRK), phakic intraocular lenses (EVO ICL), and advanced minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).
Widely recognized as a “surgeon of surgeons,” Dr. McCauley has built an exceptional reputation among both medical colleagues and patients, earning a vast network of word-of-mouth referrals. Before entering private practice, he served for 12 years as an ophthalmologist and clinical leader in the United States Army. His military tenure included acting as Director of Clinical Operations and Chief of Comprehensive Ophthalmology at Brooke Army Medical Center, as well as preparing deployment forces for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom by providing laser vision correction to eliminate dependency on corrective lenses. Outside of his clinical and surgical duties, he enjoys a highly active lifestyle centered around mountain biking, snow-skiing, pickleball, disc golf, and traveling with his family. He is also an active leader within his local church and community men’s ministries, aligning his healthcare practice with his personal faith and dedication to service.
