With a reputation as an experienced specialist in cataract and advanced lens replacement procedures, Samuel Yankelove, M.D., joined Berkeley Eye Center in 2012. Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Yankelove completed his eye surgery training at the University of Maryland and has been attending to the eye care needs of Houstonians since 1980.
Board certified by the American Board of Eye Surgeons in both cataract and refractive surgery, Dr. Yankelove is passionate about helping patients reach their personal best vision. From Lifestyle Lens Replacement to Laser Vision Correction and the Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL), Dr. Yankelove has been successful in delivering the best procedure designed to reduce one’s need for glasses or contact lenses. He also provides diagnostic, diabetic, and glaucoma eye care.
As are the other experienced eye care professionals at Berkeley Eye Center, Dr. Yankelove is dedicated to not only achieving superior results, but also to providing an outstanding experience for each individual patient.
Dr. Yankelove is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology whose professional memberships include the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, the Houston Ophthalmologic Society, and the Harris County Medical Society, in which he served as head of the public grievance committee.
In his spare time, Dr. Yankelove enjoys photography, tennis, scuba diving and playing with his golden doodle, Penelope. Dr. Yankelove volunteers his time with SEE International, a non-profit organization helping those less fortunate to receive surgical eye care in third world countries. These volunteer expeditions have taken him and his wife Dale to India, Africa, and Vietnam, where patients suffering from blinding cataracts have had their vision restored.
