At Berkeley Eye Center, because we are a full service eye care provider, we are able to help you customize a vision correction option that is best for you. This is important because your lifestyle, health, and age should dictate the type of correction you desire. It is important that you explore all vision correction options available to you. These vision options vary from glasses and contacts to lens implant technology to LASIK eye surgery. With more than 55 years of service, Berkeley Eye Center is able to assist you in choosing the vision option that is best for you now and in the future.
Every year thousands of Houstonians choose Berkeley Eye Center for their LASIK procedure. We began performing LASIK in Houston in 1994 and have four fully equipped laser centers in Houston for your convenience.. In addition, we have performed LASIK in Corpus Christi since 1999.
At Berkeley Eye Center, we first educate our patients about the procedure through a free counseling session. This includes performing basic diagnostic tests to confirm you are a good candidate. It is important that you choose a facility that has the capabilities to perform multiple diagnostic tests. The next step is a dilated eye exam to check the healthiness of your eyes and discuss your options.
Berkeley Eye Center uses two different lasers to perform the LASIK process. The first laser, the Femtosecond Intralase, is used to create a flap. This flap is lifted and folded back to allow the second laser, a Visx Star 4, to correct your vision. The procedure itself only takes a few minutes, and most people are able to resume normal activities the next day, without the need for glasses or contacts.
Our commitment to providing the latest technology at convenient locations for our patients is one of the many reasons so many Houstonians have trusted Berkeley Eye Center for their LASIK procedure. With affordable payment and easy financing options to fit each patient’s needs, there’s never been a better time to have LASIK at Berkeley Eye Center! Call us today or request a FREE consultation. At Berkeley Eye Center, exciting breakthroughs in cataract removal and lens implantation are allowing cataract patients to once again enjoy the vision of their youth. Thanks to advances in surgical and intraocular lens technology, patients undergoing cataract surgery at Berkeley Eye Center today have many options to consider that can dramatically affect their vision after the procedure.
In the past, many cataract patients still needed to wear reading glasses and/or bifocals after cataract surgery. Today, we offer new multifocal lens implants designed to reduce – and in some cases – eliminate your dependence on corrective eyewear after cataract surgery.
With the addition of our new LenSx femtosecond laser, we now also have the ability to offer our patients the benefits of Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery. Our laser technology for cataract surgery provides computer-guided accuracy for many of the critical stages of the procedure, allowing us to set a new standard in cataract safety and precision.
For the added safety, comfort and convenience of our surgical patients, Berkeley Eye Center developed the Caplan Surgery Center. This specially designed outpatient surgery center is Medicare-Approved and features two state-of-the-art operating suites. The facility only provides eye surgery, allowing us to offer our patients unsurpassed service.
When it comes to cataract surgery and lens implantation, our goal is to help each patient make an informed decision on which cataract options are best suited for their individual needs. Your lifestyle and the role your eyes play in the activities you enjoy most will play an important role in helping us customize a cataract surgery plan that is tailor made to fit your needs. Routine Eye Care and Optical
We accept most vision plans for routine eye care and optical purchases and most medical insurances for medical eye care. We welcome cash-pay patients, as well.
With easy payment options and affordable financing available through Care Credit, there’s a payment plan at Berkeley Eye Center to fit nearly any budget. Although LASIK is considered an elective procedure by medical insurance, some vision plans will offer a discount off the procedure. Many patients pay for their LASIK procedure through their Flex Spending or Health Savings Account to take advantage of the tax savings.
For patients over 65, Medicare will help pay for cataract surgery and a standard monofocal lens. Thanks to recent advances in technology, cataract patients now have the ability to “upgrade” their vision in order to reduce, and in some cases, eliminate their need for corrective eyewear. Affordable financing options are available to cover these upgrades, but many patients pay with their flex spending or health savings account to take advantage of the tax savings. In our 40s and 50s, we begin to experience the frustrating effects of blurry near vision. Reading the newspaper, looking at a dinner menu, seeing the computer screen or sending a text message becomes a struggle. We end up depending more and more on reading glasses or contact lenses to see up close. This natural loss of reading vision is called presbyopia, and it eventually affects all of us, even if we never needed vision correction before.
