Dr. Spencer Obie proudly joins Berkeley Eye Center and their tradition of providing outstanding patient care. Dr. Obie has many years of diverse experience in nearly every optometric setting to provide versatility to the patient experience. Always a team player, he brings his brand of compassion and collaboration to advance the practice of providing cutting edge eye care.
As a therapeutic optometrist/optometric glaucoma specialist, Dr. Obie is committed to appropriately managing every case he sees with a unique performance-based approach that is carefully thought out and individualized. He uses this approach for everything from prescribing glasses, contact lenses and specialty contact lenses, to treating, managing, and co-managing all ocular health issues. He believes strongly in respectfully listening to his patients to achieve the best outcomes for improved health and overall well-being.
Dr. Obie is a life-long Houstonian. After graduating from DeBakey High School, he recieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Houston and later his Doctorate of Optometry Degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He attributes living in Houston to learning the value of respect and sincerity for all peoples. This may be why he enjoys the “one-to-one” connection known by so many of his patients.
Dr. Obie is mostly quiet and can be found spending his spare time with his family, exercising, and volunteering whenever possible. He is fond of learning about other cultures and has been known to pick up a few words from other languages. In fact, he speaks his familial language, is fluent in Spanish, while currently learning a few other languages.
