Medical Records / Front Desk Backup - Greenway Plaza ➤

Location: Greenway Plaza

Schedule: Full Time

Berkeley Eye Center, A Houston Vision Care leader for 60 years is seeking an experienced Bilingual Medical Records person with Front Desk experience to assist with clinical medical records and provide 1-2 days of coverage for outpatient surgery center reception desk in Central Houston & at times Katy, TX.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Surgery Center

  • greet patients
  • register patients according to established protocols
  • assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance
  • ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
  • inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
  • patient transport to their vehicle after surgery
  • Instill eye drops
  • assist nurses with addressing patient needs in pre-op and post-op.

Medical Records

• maintain and manage patient records
• move patients through appointments as scheduled
• processing valid request for medical records to completion
• scanning faxed records into patient charts
• filing and organizing paper charts
• respond and comply to requests for information
• deal with incoming and outgoing post
• complete other clerical duties as assigned
• maintain stock of forms and office supplies
• ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean
• safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
• occasionally traveling to our Katy location

Education and Experience
• knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and diagnosis including strong HIPAA understanding
• knowledge of computer and relevant software applications
• knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
• working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred

Fluency in English & Spanish is required.

Ophthalmic Assistant Floater - Various Locations ➤

We have an opening for an Ophthalmic Assistant Floater who is committed to providing our patients both fantastic vision care and an excellent customer service experience through friendliness, professionalism, technology and a commitment to growing in their field.

This position is a great opportunity to get a foot in the door with one of the leading ophthalmology practices in the Greater Houston area. This position is designed to help provide tech coverage for vacations and unscheduled absences. It will require travel to most of the BEC Greater Houston locations. Some reimbursement for mileage is included.

Ideal Candidates have 2+ years of technician experience in an Vision Care environment that has involved assisting with preliminary workups. Full-Time Certified Surgical Scrub Tech - Surgical Centers ➤

Location: Greenway Plaza & Katy Surgical Centers

Schedule: Full Time

Berkeley Eye Center, is looking for certified surgical scrub techs to cover ambulatory surgery centers in Central Houston and Katy.

Oculoplastic experience is required!

Full time position offering 32-40 hours a week and will split time (about 50/50) covering a shift in Central Houston.

Job Summary:

As part of the BEC surgical team, the Scrub Tech is responsible for assisting during operative procedures. Tasks include: arranging and inventory sterile set-up for operation, and pass items as needed to the surgeon. Assists in preparing and moving patients including providing assistance to patient family members as they depart. Will assist in cleaning the operating room.

The OR Tech is responsible as part of a team-based environment for the provision of exceptional surgical care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility. To assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established federal, state, and Joint Commission regulations and Center policies and procedures. To maintain a high standard of safety & integrity for the patient and staff members.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Ideal Candidates will have High school diploma or equivalent education. Completed an accredited Surgical Technology program and 2+ years of Operating Room experience as a Surgical Technician. Certification as a surgical technologist is required.

Part-Time Registered Nurse - Surgical Centers ➤

Schedule: Part-Time

Part-time Surgery Post-OP RN (2-3/week) (Central Houston/Greenway Plaza)

Berkeley Eye Center’s outpatient cataract surgery centers in Central Houston & Katy seek RN to assist with surgical patients on a Part-time basis. 2-3 shifts/week. This position will work at both centers

Position is responsible for monitoring pre-operative care and post-operative recovery and giving patient instructions for after-surgery care.

Berkeley Eye Center, a vision care leader in the Greater Houston area for over 60 years is currently searching for a dynamic individual with medical office scheduling experience for our appointment desk position in the The Woodlands area.

To be successful in this position you must be able provide excellent customer service through friendliness, competency, flexibility and dependability. Good communication skills and integrity is a must.

Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of medical office experience that has included appointment scheduling, insurance verification and answering phones in a professional manner. Position will be cross-trained to occasionally help with patient check-in/check-out.

Vision care experience is preferred but we are willing to consider upbeat dependable individuals with medical office experience, a steady employment history and a desire to work in a new medical specialty.
