Cataract Surgery Counselor - Katy ➤

Location: Katy

Schedule: Full Time

Berkeley Eye Center Katy is seeking a professional, experienced surgical counselor.

This person will be responsible for introducing and educating our patients on the cataract surgery experience. Responsible for taking our patients through the process of preparing for the surgical day by coordinating scheduling, gathering needed documentation for pre-certification, providing patient education and knowledge of insurance carrier.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Counsel patient regarding proposed surgical procedure at pre-operative visit.

· Explain the procedure to insure the patient has a high comfort level with the procedure and process

· Discuss implant options and self-pay fees including financing options

· Schedule all related post-surgical/treatment appointments

· Obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers for procedure.

· Communicate to patient procedure arrival times and provide pre-operative instructions

· Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· High School Graduate or equivalent

· Two to three years’ of well-rounded surgical scheduling and patient education experience,in the healthcare field strong preference for vision care background.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

· Professional Appearance

· Knowledge of insurance carrier policies and procedures

Ophthalmic Assistant - Retina Team ➤

Location: Retina Team – Various Locations

Schedule: Full Time

Berkeley Eye Center is growing and we are adding brand new positions on a regular basis to address needs in new locations and with new patients!

Berkeley Eye’s Retina staff seeks to add experienced Ophthalmic Assistant/Scribes to the Retina Team.

Full-time position (Monday through Friday) that involves travelling to multiple locations in the greater Houston area. Qualified candidates need 3+ years of retina tech experience in an ophthalmology environment. Experience with an electronic medical records system is a plus.

Duties to include: scribing, which includes accurately inputting dictated information into electronic medical record, as directed by the physician; taking patient medical history; performing tests including VA, Tonometry, Retinal Imaging with OCT, IOL Master, Topography, Visual Field and Fundus photography.

This position offers a competitive salary rate (plus mileage for travel), a well-rounded benefit plan and job security as the practice is experiencing tremendous growth.

Description:

We are in search of a professional, customer service oriented optician at our Katy location. Daily work includes frame styling and sales, filing vision insurance, and minor frame repairs. Clinical Director - Katy ➤

Berkeley Eye Center has been a Vision Care leader in the Greater Houston area for 60 years. We have begun accepting resumes for the position of Ophthalmic Assistant Manager/Clinical Director for our location in Katy, Texas.

 

This supervisor will facilitate the continual development and implementation of quality eye care with patient satisfaction in mind. They will oversee efficiency and productivity through effective allocation of clinic resources. The supervisor will strive to be an exceptional example for all staff members by exhibiting the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and accountability.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coverage for patient care
  • Perform specialty testing on all devices throughout the clinical location
  • Have a strong awareness of patient flow issues and ability to maintain efficient clinical flow while quality of care is maintained
  • Identify areas of concern in efficiency throughout the clinic and work to resolve these issues
  • Oversee quality assurance of clinical templates
  • Daily management of clinic support staff schedules to provide the best possible technical coverage on any given day
  • Coordinate technician skills reviews
  • Support technician communication with the providers and the administration
  • First line conflict resolution
  • Oversee management and quality assurance of physical clinic area
  • Provide communication avenues to the technicians from all other departments, i.e. tech meetings, etc.
  • Assists with selection of candidates for clinical positions
  • Assists with orientation and training of new staff with regard to clinical responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10 years’ experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant & 5 years in a clinical leadership role.
  • Ability to adapt and provide solutions to challenges that arise in a fast-paced, high volume clinical setting.
  • Current JCAHPO certification at a COT level or as a COA pursuant of COT level
  • Prior experience in a fast paced medical office and in electronic health record
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
