Ralph G. Berkeley, MD began his pioneering ophthalmic career in Houston Texas in 1959, where he quickly established a reputation for advancing the art of cataract and refractive care. Dr. Berkeley’s commitment to leading edge technology and advanced surgical techniques was surpassed only by his passion and dedication to personal patient care provided in a friendly environment.
Dr. Berkeley was a surgical pioneer in every since of the word, traveling throughout the world to study and learn new procedures that he would then help introduce in the United States. He was involved in numerous FDA studies for both mechanical devices and pharmaceutical products and created an exciting and challenging work place that attracted the top medical talent in ophthalmology.
Under Dr. Berkeley’s guidance, Berkeley Eye Center has grown to 21 locations, 18 surgeons, 24 optometrists, and over 400 employees. The company has been recognized as a Top Work place for seven consecutive years and has become one of the country’s leading ophthalmic centers. Dr. Berkeley’s contribution to the field of Ophthalmology has been recognized by many organizations, including the Society for Excellence in Eyecare who presented Dr. Berkeley with their “Outstanding Leadership Award” in 2016 for his dedication and service. Dr. Berkeley has been involved in numerous charities and missionary work throughout his life.
