Berkeley Eye Center is excited to welcome Macon D. Newcomer, O.D., to our group of experienced doctors. Dr. Newcomer graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Houston’s College of Optometry, where he graduated summa cum laude, receiving his Doctorate in Optometry. During his time at the University of Houston, Dr. Newcomer was involved in the Student Optometric Practice Management Association, Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, the American Optometric Student Association, and the Student Texas Optometric Association. He participated in multiple clinical externships, and received several awards during his time at UH School of Optometry, the UH Optometry Benedict Scholarship, and the Metro Optics Contact Lens Excellence Award. He volunteered his free time while earning his degree to provide free eye screenings and vision exams at the Alcon Foundation at the State Fair of Texas, and World Site Day at Essilor of America.
Dr. Newcomer is dedicated to practicing the full scope of optometry by providing quality patient care through the use of advanced technology and clinical procedures. Dr. Newcomer specializes in both routine and medical eye examinations, specialty contact lens fittings, and refractive surgery evaluations and post-operative care.
In his free time, you can find Dr. Newcomer golfing, fishing, cheering on his Clemson Tigers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, looking for new local eateries, or just spending time outdoors. Dr. Newcomer was born and raised in Florida, but he is having a hard time not converting into a Texan.
