Signing up for a Flex Account? One of the best ways to pay for a portion of your vision correction procedure is by setting the money aside in your Flex Spending Account (FSA) beforehand, so that the money you spend on LASIK is tax-free. However, in January 2013, the maximum amount allowed to set aside into a Flex Spending Account will be reduced to $2,500. Employers may still choose to establish a lower cap, so it is important to review your company’s plan and find out how much you can set aside.
In response to these changes, Berkeley Eye Center is offering a Flex and Finance program for LASIK patients choosing to have the procedure in January of 2013. Patients who pay for part of their LASIK procedure out of their Flex Spending Account may choose from the following options:
- Pay cashfor the balance and receive a 10% discount off the total price.
- Pay the balance off with a credit car and receive a 7.5% discount off the total price.
- Finance (with approved credit) the remaining balance with Care Credit or Wells Fargo.
If you are considering LASIK in 2013 and your company is currently offering open enrollment for Flex Spending Accounts, now is a great time to schedule a free LASIK consultation to determine if you’re a candidate and if you should set aside Flex Dollars for the procedure.
