"As I have aged, I started to need readers while my distance vision remained fine. Since I already had lasik in 1999, I chose to have PRK on one eye to create monovision. This allowed me to work at a computer, participate in various activities, read and drive without wearing glasses. After an enhancement to my eye, I am very pleased with my vision. "Great results and nice staff. The procedure was very straightforward, and they did a great job of explaining my options, treatment, and aftercare. I got custom Lasik and now see 20/15 in both eyes. It's incredible how much you realize you're missing out on when you're able to see better. The staff was nice and the doctors knew what they were talking about, so the whole thing was a breeze. Believe me when I say it's the best money you've ever spent on yourself."

"I had bad nearsightedness prior to my surgery, and had worn glasses ever since I was little. The process was simple, the staff walked me through it every step of the way, and the doctors were up front about what improvements I could expect and the risks involved. They provided all the necessary drops & equipment (except for the anti-bacterial ones from the pharmacy @ $75). The surgery itself was painless, but a bit disorienting. The 2nd machine is very bright to stare at, but the lights are turned off while the machine is etching your eye (you get a faint burning flesh smell during the procedure). Once I got home and the drops wore off while I was trying to get to sleep, it felt like my eyes were on fire. I ended up sleeping a bit longer than I should have, and the bandage contact for my right eye came out a early because it had dried out. I picked up a rough spot from that, which felt like having an eyelash scrape my eyelid. I got a new bandage contact the following morning, and it healed up fine. I was very light sensitive for several days, and it took about a week to be able to look at a monitor for more than 30min - 1hr, and it took a while to get used to the correction (focusing). Turning the brightness down helped. At the 1mo mark I am still sensitive, but I can see 20/15, and it great to finally be able to use wrap around sunglasses."

"I am amazed! I went in for my surgery with these guys on a Friday. Walked out with my vision slightly blurry. Then, went home went to sleep and woke up with my vision already better than what it used to be. After that, every morning I woke up my vision was getting better and better. Now its a month later and I have 20/20 vision! The surgery itself was not painful at all. They put numbing drops on my eyes then put these plastic things on your eyelids so that you won't blink. After that, they scrubbed the outer cells of my eyes off ( I got prk surgery ) the BOOM lasers zap at your eyes for a couple seconds and the you get some cold water poured at your eyes (quiet soothing). Entire procedure took about 4 minutes. I didn't feel a thing. It was awesome to be able to look at it while it was happening. I definetly recommend this to anybody! I have told all my friends about it and most of them are dying to do it!"

"WONDERFUL PRACTICE!! Highly recommended !!! Please note that the one-star rating below dated Jan 19 is not about Berkeley Eye Center in Katy, but instead for Wesleyan Eye Center, Houston. Berkeley is definitely worthy of five stars. We went to another practice in Katy of optometrists for several years, but needed a medical doctor, or opthamologist, to evaluate my daughter's eyes about a year ago because she was having health issues. Dr. Doe was highly recommended by two co-workers. They were right, he is the nicest, best, and most informative doctor we could have ever asked for. The staff was accommodating and worked us in to also see the optometrist for a fitting and contacts for my daughter, too, even though we had not booked that part of an appointment in advance. Now my husband and I have both changed over to Berkeley. After years of struggling with bifocal contacts, Dr. Bertrand fitted me perfectly the first time in contacts that I can see better with than I have in years. No more reading glasses, and I have much better night vision. It was a miracle! My husband experienced a similar improvement with what was prescribed. Berkeley also takes our insurance and the previous practice did not. We are planning to switch our other teenager to this practice as well when it is time for a check up and new contacts. We are so glad to have found the great care at Berkeley Eye Center."

"I recently had LASIK at Berkeley Katy and can't stop raving about my experience. First, the staff at the Katy center is FABULOUS! Dr. Garrett, Dr. Doe, and everyone in the office is nice, friendly, and helpful. They make you feel like you are their one and only patient. After years of wearing contacts and glasses, I finally decided to have the procedure done before my wedding. I can't believe I waited so long! The procedure is quick and painless, and I was seeing 20/15 the day after and continue to do so. This is the best investment I've ever made! Now, I understand why Berkeley Katy came so highly recommended to me by friends and family, and I will definitely refer anyone considering LASIK to Berkeley Katy!"
