Frank J. Ruda, M.D.

Frank J. Ruda, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Berkeley Eye Center. He provides retina care to patients at several Berkeley Eye Center Locations.

Born and raised in Midland, Texas, he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and genetics from Texas A&M University in College Station. After graduating from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, Dr. Ruda served as a Herbert E. Kaufman Research Fellow at Louisiana State University. He then completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the LSU-Oschner Clinic in New Orleans and subsequently completed a vitreo-retinal fellowship at the West Virginia University Eye Institute in Morgantown, WV.

His clinical interests include the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, complex retinal detachments, macular holes/puckers, retinal vein occlusion, as well as ocular trauma.

Dr. Ruda has written several peer reviewed journal publications, and has presented research on various retinal diseases and treatments at national ophthalmology meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists.

He is proficient in Spanish.
