Frank J. Ruda, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Berkeley Eye Center. He provides retina care to patients at several Berkeley Eye Center Locations.
Dr. Ruda received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and genetics from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. After graduating from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, he served as a Herbert E. Kaufman Research Fellow at Louisiana State University. He then completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the LSU-Oschner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Ruda went on to complete a vitreo-retinal fellowship at the West Virginia University Eye Institute in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Dr. Ruda has written several peer reviewed journal publications, and has presented research on various retinal diseases and treatments at national ophthalmology meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retinal Specialists.
While Dr. Ruda is originally from Midland, he and his wife returned to her hometown of Houston, Texas, where they both practice medicine. His interests include spending time with his friends and family, reading, Olympic weight-lifting, skiing, and golf.
