James T. Varnell, O.D.
James T. Varnell, O.D., has cared for patients at Berkeley Eye Center for more than 26 years. Dr. Varnell completed two Bachelor’s degrees at the University of Houston as well as his Doctor of Optometry degree from U of H College of Optometry.
He completed an internship at Vision Education Foundation in Atlanta and is licensed by both the State of Texas and the state of Georgia.
Dr. Varnell works as Director of Optometric Services at Berkeley Eye Center as well as as a preceptor for fourth-year student rotations at the University of Houston and University of Missouri at St. Louis. He is also a preceptor for advanced optometric residency at the University of Houston.
He holds membership in the American Optometric Association, as well as its Section on Contact Lens, Texas Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, Georgia Eye Care Association, Harris County Optometric Association, Phi Theta Upsilon – Professional Optometric Fraternity and the University of Houston Alumni Organization
